to Park City High School Baseball team for producing one of their most
successful season to date. With an overall of 22-5, the PC Miners made a final
playoff push before eventually falling in Friday's neutral playoff game against Bear
River by a score of 6-5 in the 3A UHSAA State Baseball Championships. Despite the loss,
the Miners finished the season with an impressive state rank at 9th. Head Coach, Lou Green, along with his assistant coaches, Matt
Strader, Bob Mackey, Mike Stokes, Carl Hermansen, and Colin Watkins, did a
remarkable job coaching these young athletes and supporting them to reach their
fullest potential. Athletic Republic Park City’s Sports Performance Coach, Brandon
Talbot, has been working with the team all season as their strength and
conditioning coach. PCHS Baseball had a number of AR athletes that were strong
contributors, including Chandler Barkdel, Scott Stokes, among others.
Below, is a recap of their season through the viewpoint of
your thoughts about the 2015 season overall?
“I felt like it went
great. We beat some very good teams and
won some big tournaments. It was a heart breaking loss to Bear River Bears."
the most significant athletic improvements that you witnessed during your time
working with PCHS Baseball?
“Most players averaged
.2-.4 improvements on their 60 yard times. Some improved more than average due
to lack of training prior and other athletes less due to having trained before.
Chandler improved .1 and I believe Jake and Mav improved.5! Everybody put on
good weight. Most of the freshmen and sophomores put on 10-15lbs and
everybody's strength increased dramatically."
